Recovery advice for Marathon Runners

April 28, 2018
Processed with VSCO with al3 preset
If you follow me on Insta then you’ll know that I’m currently at the luxury international health resort Chiva Som, Thailand. You’ll also be aware that much to my dismay, I was forced to withdraw from last Sunday’s London Marathon due to an injury I sustained nearly two months ago. I travelled here to Chiva Som on Monday to get some expert advice on rehabilitation since after six and a half weeks I was still limping in pain (despite resting, strengthening and physio in London) and I was desperate to see improvement. When life gives you lemons… Much to my relief I am feeling a marked improvement.… Continue reading...

Via Ferrata: Part II of my quest to test the world’s longest zip

March 9, 2018

Days in the Al Wadi desert made for the perfect introduction to the natural beauty, broad bio-diversity and diverse landscapes of Ras Al Khaimah. After spending a few days on the dunes we journeyed a short 45 minutes to the Jebel Jais mountain range, the UAE’s highest mountain, to climb the 1KM zip trail (which includes three zip lines) of Via Ferrata. This was to get our minds in the game in preparation to be one of the very first people to trial the world’s longest zip line – due to launch a few days after. It’s an extremely safe climb.… Continue reading...

My quest to test the world’s longest zip line: Part I

March 5, 2018
171217-annarachelphotography-0751
If you’re based in Britain and anything like me then last week’s “beast from the east” had you desperately dreaming of hot sunshine and palm trees. My destination daydream was Ras Al Khaimah in the UAE, which I visited just before Christmas. I’d been invited to be one of the first to test the world’s longest zip line, scheduled to open in mid-December and I couldn’t wait. However, as you will discover when you read the following posts, things didn’t quite go to plan… Ras Al Khaimah is less well-known than its neighbor, Dubai, but the emirate is aiming to attract one million visitors by the end of 2018.… Continue reading...

I am super excited to announce that this October I will be climbing Mount Kilimanjaro and I want YOU to join me! Please read the below to find out why this will be a trip of a lifetime. To book please call/email the contact at the end of the post. I cannot wait to conquer this challenge with you! Why climb Kili? The harder the climb, the greater the view. Life is for living to the full and that means you have to push yourself to achieve the greatest heights. I’m all about growth and personal development and I know that climbing Kilimanjaro, the world’s largest free standing mountain and the only place on land where you can clearly see the curvature of the Earth, will act as a gateway to many enriching personal transformations.… Continue reading...

5 reasons why you need to stay at Pulitzer Amsterdam

December 7, 2017
swings
Welcome to the Pulitzer Amsterdam. Hidden amongst the city’s iconic canals this little gem comprises an intricate maze of 25 connecting Golden Age canal houses, decadent guest rooms, a gym, tranquil inner gardens, a garden café, a bar and a restaurant. I found out about the hotel after it kindly started following and liking me on Instagram! The complement was instantly reciprocated and one thing lead to another and before I knew it, we were doing a mini-break. Here’s why you should too! 1. It’s interior is vibrant, decadent and full of colour and charisma. After a full renovation the Pulitzer positively sparkles.… Continue reading...

5 of Amsterdam’s finest Brunch Spots: the Super healthy, super indulgent and everything in-between!

December 4, 2017

I’ve just returned from a short stay in Amsterdam and I loved it. If you’re into your coffee’s and cafe culture then you too will love the dam. I’d heard so much about this eclectic city and yes, mainly how the opportunity to buy weed and magic mushrooms exists on most canal corners and how you can pop into cafes and indulge in both of these things openly. Every picture I’d seen enticed me. Cute canals, cafes, coffee shops and culture (the Anne Frank house is a MUST see) – I don’t know why it took me so long to visit!… Continue reading...

Yoga with Sophie Clyde: Ibiza and London

November 13, 2017

Mental health problems are a growing public health concern. They are prevalent not just in the UK, but around the world. Mixed anxiety & depression is the most common mental disorder in Britain, with 7.8% of people meeting criteria for diagnosis. Encouragingly however, this year has seen a positive shift in addressing the problem with public figures such as the Duke of Cambridge and Prince Harry working for the Heads Together campaign, which seeks to combat the stigma surrounding mental health issues, and invite people to speak more openly about their difficulties. It’s well known that one of the best solutions and preventions to stress and anxiety is yoga and meditation – both of which I speak about frequently on my blog and IG.… Continue reading...

Watergate Bay Hotel with MBFR

October 4, 2017
Watergate-Bay-From-Cliffs-no-river
If you’ve read my previous posts you’ll know that I’m a big fan of Mountain Beach Fitness Retreats and you’ll know why. But there’s also the added allure of exceptional accommodation for each retreat you attend and Watergate Bay Hotel is no exception. The hotel’s USP is it’s situation right on Watergate Bay beach and it takes full advantage of this with its floor to ceiling windows allowing light to flood the pool and living areas. The sense of space and serenity that this creates is mesmerising. I could sit for hours watching the surfers paddle out to sea and ride the (huge) waves back into the beach and the happy families with their rosy-cheeked children and soggy, sandy dogs playing along the shoreline.… Continue reading...

Processed with VSCO with a5 preset
A  retreat with Mountain Beach Fitness Retreats means the following. You will sweat. A lot. You will be unbelievably out of  breath. You will be pushed beyond your limits. And when you think you can’t possibly move another muscle, somehow you do. You will sleep like a baby and wake up with tired, aching limbs and feel like you need a good rest. But instead you’re once again put to the test. MBFR means sprinting  up hills, hiit circuits, hiking for hours on end, running, swimming, jumping, strengthening muscles, stretching and flexing – all within the most beautiful places on the planet staying in the most luxurious of hotels/chalets.… Continue reading...
