Surrey Hills Escape

When you live in a city like London regular time-outs where you can slow everything down and just enjoy the simple pleasures are a must. And for me, the most simple way to do this is to escape to the country. I can never resist the call of long walks in the rolling hills and crisp clean air, cosy log fires, long breakfasts with the weekend papers, and just generally being in nature.

Having recently got back from Cape Town I was missing hiking in the mountains (and a lot more!) so I decided to book a weekend with my bestie in the Surrey Hills to get my hiking fix. It was a great decision. We stayed at the charming De Vere Wotton House – little over one hour’s drive from London. Our spacious suite (called Poppy!) overlooked beautiful grounds and a big majestic Cedar tree. The hotel is a short drive from Box Hill which offers beautiful walking routes (and trees to climb!) and spectacular views of the surrounding Surrey hills.

There are lots of pubs and restaurants close by but we ate all our meals at the hotel. The grub was too good to go anywhere else!

It was an incredibly peaceful weekend and although short and sweet, it satisfied our country craving.. Until next time!

Looks like some great r&r time! Relieving stress can actually also improve muscle tone, strength, and flexibility so it’s good to know that a break is still helping!
