What we ate on MTLR

With so much exercise we needed to eat a lot to keep our energy up. And eat we did and very well too. Breakfast was a feast of Lucy Rocks musleis (vegan, gluten free), Pip & Nut butters, fresh fruit, chia puddings, custard tarts (we were in Portugal – it would be ride not to), eggs and toast. Lunch was usually a picnic on the beach and this was a simple chicken salad. Fruit, crisps and biccies were also on tap. This wasn’t a retreat for turning the treats down! For me, dinner was when I got really excited. Rainbow arrays of exotic salads, spreads, herbs and veggies were presented with artistic flair, accompanied by bigger, heartier dishes like risotto, pasta, paella and big meat dishes.… Continue reading...

It was four weeks of intensive studying and training. The volume of work was vast (worksheets, learning, exams, assessments, client case studies…) and I had no idea that being a PT involved such a comprehensive understanding of physiology, anatomy and nutrition. BUT I  somehow got through it and I actually loved the time geeking up on the human body! (Nerd alert!) But seriously, the more you learn about the body the more remarkable you realise it is and the more you want to continue to learn. Before starting the Gym Instructor and Level 3 PT course Train Fitness provide you access to its online learning programme.… Continue reading...

A few months after the Daily Mail article was published I wrote a following article in The Mail on Sunday’s You Magazine, expressing my concern that many women were still coming to me and asking for my detailed nutritional plans whilst I was on the regime– despite me warning of the negative health implications and making it clear that it was unsustainable.… Continue reading...

Why I ate every 4 hours doing my Victoria’s Secret Training

July 4, 2015
Roasted-Beet-Hummus
Throughout my Victoria’s Secret training, I always made sure I went no longer than four hours without food. It may seem counterintuitive but skipping meals might actually cause you to put on weight. If you skip breakfast, lunch or dinner it could increase your risk of type 2 diabetes and heart disease – researchers from Ohio State University have found. Why? When insulin signals fail, the liver does not know it needs to stop producing glucose. The extra sugar in the blood is then stored as fat, causing the individual to put on weight around the belly and belly fat is linked to an increased risk of heart disease.… Continue reading...
