It didn’t quite go to plan: Part III of my quest to test the world’s longest zip

March 13, 2018
Having now been in RAK a few days and completed our zip line initiation with the Via Ferrata zip,  we were were now ready to hit the big’un. The opening of the world’s longest zip was just a couple of days away. Anticipation was building but we were kept busy exploring RAK by way of action sports (mountain biking), local cuisine, road tripping, light shows, hiking and plenty of water sports. I linked up with journalist extraordinaire Simon Parker –  BBC Correspondent, Telegraph, Lonley Planet, Conde Nast and Independent travel writer. The guy’s got some pretty gripping tales to tell. Give him a follow to see what he’s got in the pipeline.… Continue reading...

The freedom to chase adventures

March 8, 2017
If you follow me on instagram then you’ll know I’ve spent the past couple of weeks in the mother city – Cape Town. I had an absolute blast. January is always full of promise for the new year but all Jan and Feb had dealt in London was endless grey skies and snow so I decided it was high time to switch to warmer climes and have some sunny adventures. Off I went… It felt so freeing to just book a ticket and get the hell outta the grey! I arrived in Cape Town, picked up a rental car and off I went to meet some friends and have some adventures.… Continue reading...

Tribe Power! Presenting at Les Mills Live London

May 25, 2016
Never has the expression “Your vibe attracts your tribe” been more apt than at Les Mills Live which took place at Excel London in partnership with Reebok earlier this year. Take over 4,000 super positive, super fit, super dedicated simply smashing Les Mills fans (known in the inner circle as the #lesmillstribe) and you have one pretty powerful sight to behold. Back in March, Les Mills Live Global Tour kicked off with mega watt power and I was lucky enough to be presenting the event with fellow presenter AJ Odudu. If the name Les Mills doesn’t immediately ring a bell then I’m sure the mention of the Les Mills classes such as Body Attack, Body Pump, Body Combat, RPM (the list goes on) will be instantly familiar.… Continue reading...

Third and Final day at Thirty Eight Degrees North, Ibiza

November 11, 2015
I got to know the breakfast staff at Aguas de Ibiza very well. With so much exercise I developed a routine of having two breakfasts because I definitely needed the extra fuel. And it would have been rude not to right? But this wasn’t an excuse to go crazy at the buffet. I kept my meals balanced and nutritious. Round (I) (eaten in a flash so no time for a snap) was berries and cereal and round two was eggs/smoked salmon and veggies with a smooth almond milk cappuccino. After breakfast round (I) of berries and cereal (eaten in a flash so no time for a snap) it was off to yoga, which eased my muscles back into moving gently which I was particularly grateful for given how stiff I was from the previous days here!… Continue reading...

Day Two at Thirty Eight Degrees North, Ibiza

November 4, 2015
Day Two of Optimal Fitness Week. I woke up feeling ready to work it. That is – ready to give the morning circuits, the kickboxing, the TRX, the  boxing aaaaaand the yoga – my all. Happily, the sun made an appearance so we did the circuits outside with the awesome Faye Lovell. This girl rocks! She somehow managed to make each session super engaging, effective and dynamic. The circuits (pictured below) started with an energetic warm-up before the burpees, sprints, lunges, mountain climbers and the like ensued… Doing these exercises outside in the dappled sunlight and shade of the tall pine trees felt so invigorating.… Continue reading...

GymClass is Kick-Ass!

November 3, 2014
Helle Hammonds is to fitness what Ursula Andress is to James Bond. She’s a fiercely fit female fatale who you have to see in the flesh to believe she’s not just an airbrushed ad. I admit I comforted myself with this delusion when I first stared dumbstruck at her phenomenal physique on a poster (scroll down to end image on this post) at Barry’s Bootcamp. “Pff, must be a photoshop masterpiece I puffed noting the impossibly perfect six-pack, the slender toned arms, the long hair cascading down her back and shoulders. But, alas, twas no airbrushed ad. HH it turned out, is actually real.… Continue reading...

WellFit Festival; a fab way to spend Saturday

October 6, 2014
It was a wet start to the weekend. I opened my curtains and looked out at a grey, drizzly and rather dismal looking day. Normally, this sight would make me feel a tad dreary but on this occasion I had the exciting prospect of the WellFit Festival, organised by SBC and Frame to look forward to. I actually felt smug that, unlike many Londoners who would be wondering what to do on this wet day, I had an awesome action-packed schedule ahead involving eating lots of delicious healthy food, trying fun workouts and listening to inspiring talks form health and fitness experts – all under one dry warm roof.… Continue reading...

Hotpod Yoga, London

September 1, 2014
I first tried Hotpod Yoga the day after watching Noah and I couldn’t help but feel a butterfly effect symmetry between the two. There was. So. Much. Water. Or sweat I should say – everywhere – and I thought Bikram was bad. The humidity inside the hotpod is high and it’s eagerly amplified by humidifiers in all corners of the pod adding yet more moisture to the mix. The name is derived from the inflatable pod within which the classes take place. Also unique to this type of yoga is the temperature, 37’C, in which a challenging Vinyassa flow sequence takes place.… Continue reading...

Paola’s BodyBarre

August 28, 2014
Pre PBB I’ll admit I wasn’t feeling super psyched about trialling Paola’s bodybarre class. A few months prior I’d attended my first barre class in West London and found it laborious, sterile and so strict it felt like school. So when I reluctantly walked through Paola’s studio doors in Fulham,  I was surprised to find the atmosphere completely different. I was instantly enthused and captivated by the inviting and homely boutique-style feel. Then I spotted some freshly baked protein balls, healthy snacks and assortment of shakes in a help-yourself-set-up at no extra cost and suddenly I’m glad I’ve come. Inside, it’s open-plan with the reception leading straight into the theatrical looking studio with the class initials – PBB – illuminated by big light bulbs on the wall.… Continue reading...

Dancing at Pineapple Studios

October 22, 2013
I’m always on the lookout for fun active sociable things to do in London.  Pineapple Studios is world famous for its prestigious dance standards so I thought what could be better than learning how to move it and shake it with the pros? I booked myself, my boyfriend, sister and her other half into a private lesson with the lovely lanky Alex. As complete beginners we all needed the one-to-one attention. She guided us through the cha cha, jive and waltz explaining some of basic tips about posture, steps (take small ones) etc. The hour whizzed by like the waltz and we all had such a giggle.… Continue reading...
