Surrey Hills Escape

March 24, 2017
IMG_2472
When you live in a city like London regular time-outs where you can slow everything down and just enjoy the simple pleasures are a must. And for me, the most simple way to do this is to escape to the country. I can never resist the call of long walks in the rolling hills and crisp clean air, cosy log fires, long breakfasts with the weekend papers, and just generally being in nature. Having recently got back from Cape Town I was missing hiking in the mountains (and a lot more!) so I decided to book a weekend with my bestie in the Surrey Hills to get my hiking fix.… Continue reading...

Hair Maintenance

March 13, 2016
hair
About ten years ago one of my best girlfriends gave me Bergdoff Blondes to read. I loved it. It’s a story about the glitzy lives and loves of New York socialites and its title refers to how one of the main characters (Julie) routinely gets her hair dyed platinum blonde at luxury department store Bergdorf Goodman. Even back then I knew the significance of getting that “perfect blonde” socialite or not, and how hard (and expensive) it was to find. The book opens with words which are like the bible for blondes. “Bergdorf Blondes are a thing, you know, a New York [global] craze.… Continue reading...

Winter Glow Retreat at Poundon House

February 11, 2016
Poundon-House-Yoga-Retreat-Saskia-123
Before Christmas I pledged to put a decent portion of my time into attempting a yogi metamorphosis. So when January came off I trotted to Poundon House for my first ever yoga retreat. Which was taught by the gorgeous and very flexible Saskia Price. In Saskia’s words her teaching style has an “emphasis on breath and creative movement of vinyassa flow, the sequencing structures of Ashtanga, the heart and classical spirit of Dharma Mittra and the philosophy and playfulness of Jivamukti.”  (And in English) that’s yogi speak for a physical, dynamic and strong practice with an emphasis on breathing and some meditation at the end.… Continue reading...

March 10, 2015

If you go to Parrot Cay you must, must, must do the two hour boat trip which takes you past several privately owned PIMP villas and beach houses – some of which are available to rent – and others of which belong to A-listers like Donna Karan, Bruce Willis, Christie Brinkley and Keith Richards who we had the pleasure of dining next to several nights. But that’s not the only reason to take to the turquoise seas and sands of the starlets… All aboard! One of my sister’s and my Ma Pimp privately owned properties belonging to A-listers like Bruce Willis.… Continue reading...

Workshop at Bulgari Hotel

January 13, 2015
Just before Christmas The Bulgari hotel welcomed WORKSHOP – the brand spanking  and VERY swanky new fitness destination – to its London residences, and I was one of the exceptionally lucky ones to sample it. Workshop founder Lee Mullins is the former Director of Personal Training at Bodyism, (the famous fitness brand formerly at The Bulgari) and comes with a wealth of experience and expertise (he’s honed the bodies of Victoria Secret models, Oscar winners and CEO’s worldwide). But this alone is not all that makes Workshop so special and snazzy. The gym is the first to offer the FRAMEWORK tool, (exclusive to the UK) which tailors exercise programmes built upon a unique combination of genetic and scientific tests including movement and nutrition genetic analysis, food intolerance tests, metabolic testing, functional movement screen and a body composition assessment.… Continue reading...

Privet Beauty and Grooming Salon Notting Hill

October 23, 2014
Privet; a bush with green leaves that is often used for hedges. When you walk into this warm, rustic and totally charming new luxury beauty and grooming haven in the heart of my Notting Hill hood, you see that its name is the very essence of its ethos.  Privet is a brand new, luxury, top-to-toe body “topiary” service run by a team of beauty professionals, or  “expert gardeners” as they like to comically refer to themselves as, who believe that “personal pruning” should be an enjoyable affair. Well, I’m 100 per cent up for that, I thought excitedly, and decided to pay Privet a visit to see just how enjoyable they could make a little pampering and “pruning”. … Continue reading...

Light up your Life

September 16, 2014
If you’re in the same boat as my friend and fashion blogger extraordinaire Soraya Bakhtiar, who, whilst clutching a Starbucks coffee captioned her instagram this morning : “Last day of London Fashion Week feeling tired yet cosy in this cornflower blue knit [it’s 24 degrees celsius and sunny outside] by @mrselfportrait #morningslikethese #cabselfie #lfw” then you’re in need of some serious r&r. A couple of days ago I handpicked five of the best spa deals in central London, which I hope deemed helpful! However, if you can’t get to a spa, then make some time to relax at home. Downtime is so important – even if you only have just five or ten minutes.… Continue reading...

#TBT Hotel de Paris

September 10, 2014
It will be “a hotel that transcends anything so far created” declared François Blanc, the celebrated founder of Group Monte-Carlo SBM which built Hôtel de Paris in 1864 under the auspices of Prince Charles III of Monaco. I paid the legendary hotel a visit in July to learn about its plans for a luxury renovation. The full article will be published on Billionaire.com soon, so until then I’ll just say this… Legends are rare and so was my experience at Hotel de Paris. The only way to travel: helicopter transfer to the hotel The infamous maximus soufflé from the grill (since 1864) The twinkling view from my balcony ‘It never rains in Monte-Carlo’… Continue reading...
