New Zealand (spell)bound

June 14, 2018
At 6AM on May 5th I landed in Auckland, New Zealand for the first time. From the sky I’d got my first glimpse of the other-worldly Lord of the Rings land, all majestic green mountains and meandering rivers some several thousand feet below. The grey skies and light rain which enveloped my landing signalled Autumn had arrived. Having come from the humidity of Hong Kong and Thailand I imagined I’d have to hot-foot it to buy a suitcase of cashmere. Sundresses and bikinis certainly wouldn’t suffice these new chillier temperatures. But then, just 30 minutes later the sun came out and melted the clouds away.… Continue reading...

My quest to test the world’s longest zip line: Part I

March 5, 2018
If you’re based in Britain and anything like me then last week’s “beast from the east” had you desperately dreaming of hot sunshine and palm trees. My destination daydream was Ras Al Khaimah in the UAE, which I visited just before Christmas. I’d been invited to be one of the first to test the world’s longest zip line, scheduled to open in mid-December and I couldn’t wait. However, as you will discover when you read the following posts, things didn’t quite go to plan… Ras Al Khaimah is less well-known than its neighbor, Dubai, but the emirate is aiming to attract one million visitors by the end of 2018.… Continue reading...

Climb Mount Kilimanjaro with me this October!

January 18, 2018
I am super excited to announce that this October I will be climbing Mount Kilimanjaro and I want YOU to join me! Please read the below to find out why this will be a trip of a lifetime. To book please call/email the contact at the end of the post. I cannot wait to conquer this challenge with you! Why climb Kili? The harder the climb, the greater the view. Life is for living to the full and that means you have to push yourself to achieve the greatest heights. I’m all about growth and personal development and I know that climbing Kilimanjaro, the world’s largest free standing mountain and the only place on land where you can clearly see the curvature of the Earth, will act as a gateway to many enriching personal transformations.… Continue reading...

Watergate Bay Hotel with MBFR

October 4, 2017
If you’ve read my previous posts you’ll know that I’m a big fan of Mountain Beach Fitness Retreats and you’ll know why. But there’s also the added allure of exceptional accommodation for each retreat you attend and Watergate Bay Hotel is no exception. The hotel’s USP is it’s situation right on Watergate Bay beach and it takes full advantage of this with its floor to ceiling windows allowing light to flood the pool and living areas. The sense of space and serenity that this creates is mesmerising. I could sit for hours watching the surfers paddle out to sea and ride the (huge) waves back into the beach and the happy families with their rosy-cheeked children and soggy, sandy dogs playing along the shoreline.… Continue reading...

Mad To Live: The Stoking of the brains …

June 23, 2017
So in my last post I told you that founder of MTLR’s  Sophie’s mission is to “stoke your brains out”. Wanna know what this means? Scroll down… And this my friends, is a flash of what it means to get your brains stocked out. We rode, ran, swam, surfed, hiked, biked, bended, stretched, jumped and it all made us feel PUMPED! I think the best thing about it all – as well as being able to do it all in nature – wast the fantastic, unbeatable feeling of physical capability. Being able to use and move our bodies in so many different ways and to master uncertainties, grow stronger in mind, body and soul – there is nothing like it.… Continue reading...

My Top Audio Picks (And why you need them in your life)

November 10, 2016
Over the summer I really got into listening to audios and I can’t believe it took me so long! For all those times you may be travelling to work, stuck in traffic, walking, cleaning your house, relaxing in the bath or even getting ready to go out – all that otherwise “empty” time can be enriched with words of wisdom and knowledge which will leave you wiser, very likely happier, more motivated, inspired and more clued up. I’ve benefited so much from the audios listed below. Listening to the soothing sound of someone telling you how to be happier, live better and generally get more from life is incredibly comforting and uplifting – especially during the tough times as I found to be particularly true this summer.… Continue reading...

Re-wild yourself

September 19, 2014
If you like me, regularly feel an unabated urge to escape the concrete jungle, the congestion, the crowds and the chaos of the city (which, for me is London) then this is for you. And actually, even if you live and breathe the smokey city life 24/7, this will surely make you think twice too. Wild Fitness Tara Wood is a woman after my own heart, mind, spirit and soul. She captured and enraptured me when I watched her TED talk, where she explains the concept of her company, Wild Fitness and the miraculous physical, mental, emotional and spiritual transformations it initiates for the people who experience her programmes.… Continue reading...
