F Zeen Retreat, Kefalonia

May 26, 2017
Processed with VSCO with a5 preset
This was a very  special trip. Early one May morning four fitness bloggers including myself gathered together at Gatwick Airport for the first time, unaware that it would be the start of a beautiful friendship between us all. Not to mention the start of four days in paradise. (Scroll to the bottom of this post to find out who these girls are and where you can follow them! They are a true inspiration.) A three and a half hour flight took us in Kefalonia, the largest island of the Ionian Sea and remarkably untarnished by tourists. Its land is lush and its many beaches exotic, uncrowded and completely breathtaking.… Continue reading...

Surrey Hills Escape

March 24, 2017

When you live in a city like London regular time-outs where you can slow everything down and just enjoy the simple pleasures are a must. And for me, the most simple way to do this is to escape to the country. I can never resist the call of long walks in the rolling hills and crisp clean air, cosy log fires, long breakfasts with the weekend papers, and just generally being in nature. Having recently got back from Cape Town I was missing hiking in the mountains (and a lot more!) so I decided to book a weekend with my bestie in the Surrey Hills to get my hiking fix.… Continue reading...

Marking the second instalment in the stress series, here we have the delightful duo Emily and Hannah of Twice The Health sharing their favourite ways to destress, workout and have a good time! These two are always an absolute joy to be around so take note of their stress busting, feel good secrets. They clearly work! 1. What are your stress levels like usually (Rate 0-10 scale 10 being highest) E: 4 – I don’t get too stressed! I think it’s too exhausting so I just try to accept a situation and deal with it as best I can. H: 6 – I’d like to say lower but the nature of working for a startup sometimes has me losing my cool just a little.… Continue reading...

Introducing the STRESS BUSTING SERIES

January 23, 2017

STRESS. How many times do you hear that word each day? Well, according to WHO (World Health Organisation) we’re hearing it more than ever before. In fact, WHO have declared stress as “the health epidemic of 21st century” costing American businesses an estimated 300 billion US$ per year. Whilst some research argues that a little bit of stress can motivate people and get their creative juices flowing negative stress, however, has proven to have a detrimental effect on many people’s health. Whether it results in physical burnout, mental fatigue, anxiety, emotional imbalance or spiritual emptiness- when we operate on zero, we are as good as useless to ourselves, family and in the workplace.… Continue reading...

A stress-free afternoon with a cuppa Starbucks Teavana

October 20, 2016
IMG_5153
According to most Brits there’s nothing that a good old cuppa can’t conquer. And we may do well to keep this in mind as survey after survey shows us city slickers are more stressed and depressed then ever. We have vast unbinding workloads and deal with daily over-doses of social media and online engagement. The result? We’re constantly connected and rarely in the natural life-enhancing clean air of the countryside alone with just our thoughts. So what to do? We need to switch off FAR more. We need to make time in our week for wholesome device-free down-time. Now that Autumn’s here the evenings are drawing in and daylight hours are becoming even more important to savour (a vitamin D supplement is also essential as most Brits become deficient in the winter months).… Continue reading...

Winter Glow Retreat at Poundon House

February 11, 2016
Poundon-House-Yoga-Retreat-Saskia-123
Before Christmas I pledged to put a decent portion of my time into attempting a yogi metamorphosis. So when January came off I trotted to Poundon House for my first ever yoga retreat. Which was taught by the gorgeous and very flexible Saskia Price. In Saskia’s words her teaching style has an “emphasis on breath and creative movement of vinyassa flow, the sequencing structures of Ashtanga, the heart and classical spirit of Dharma Mittra and the philosophy and playfulness of Jivamukti.”  (And in English) that’s yogi speak for a physical, dynamic and strong practice with an emphasis on breathing and some meditation at the end.… Continue reading...

My Kind of Mindfullness and It Doesn’t Cost a Penny

October 1, 2015

How wonderful is it that Autumn is well and truly here in all its spectacular colours of red, green and gold. We’ve been incredibly lucky in London recently with clear bright blue beautiful sunny days making everything look sensational. I know I’m not alone in saying that good weather makes me feel infinitely more cheerful and energetic – let alone allow me the opportunity to harness the beneficial effects of vital vitamin D. But what’s enriched  my last week the most is having a beautiful 6-month old pup to play with and motivate me to make the most of autumn’s delights.… Continue reading...
