What we ate on MTLR

With so much exercise we needed to eat a lot to keep our energy up. And eat we did and very well too. Breakfast was a feast of Lucy Rocks musleis (vegan, gluten free), Pip & Nut butters, fresh fruit, chia puddings, custard tarts (we were in Portugal – it would be ride not to), eggs and toast. Lunch was usually a picnic on the beach and this was a simple chicken salad. Fruit, crisps and biccies were also on tap. This wasn’t a retreat for turning the treats down! For me, dinner was when I got really excited. Rainbow arrays of exotic salads, spreads, herbs and veggies were presented with artistic flair, accompanied by bigger, heartier dishes like risotto, pasta, paella and big meat dishes.… Continue reading...

I wanted to shake things up and learn something new and most importantly – do it outdoors. Virgin Active’s New Barre Class

Barre is a brand new to Virgin Active’s class timetable – a 45-minute class which combines a fusion of classical ballet moves, Pilates, yoga and dance devised to tone, define and sculpt the whole body. I’ve tried various barre classes across town but never succeeded in finding one which is conveniently located, so it’s never been a regular feature in my workout routine. So when VA invited me to try their barre class at Lancaster road (which has just undergone a beautiful revamp), just a stone’s throw from my flat, off I trotted hopefully to see if this class would become a weekly fixture.… Continue reading...
