If you’ve read my previous posts you’ll know that I’m a big fan of Mountain Beach Fitness Retreats and you’ll know why. But there’s also the added allure of exceptional accommodation for each retreat you attend and Watergate Bay Hotel is no exception. The hotel’s USP is it’s situation right on Watergate Bay beach and it takes full advantage of this with its floor to ceiling windows allowing light to flood the pool and living areas. The sense of space and serenity that this creates is mesmerising. In my youth I told myself that with enough effort, I too could turn the colour of a coconut. Yet the results of my lengthy efforts frying in the sun gave me sun stroke, sunburn and flaking white skin that shed like a snake in protest.… Continue reading...

Surrey Hills Escape

When you live in a city like London regular time-outs where you can slow everything down and just enjoy the simple pleasures are a must. And for me, the most simple way to do this is to escape to the country. I can never resist the call of long walks in the rolling hills and crisp clean air, cosy log fires, long breakfasts with the weekend papers, and just generally being in nature. Having recently got back from Cape Town I was missing hiking in the mountains (and a lot more!) so I decided to book a weekend with my bestie in the Surrey Hills to get my hiking fix.… Continue reading...
