My Super Lux Stop-Over at The Siam Hotel, Bangkok

June 13, 2018
En route to New Zealand I had one very special night at the spectacular The Siam Hotel. It is to Bangkok what The Eden Roc is to Antibes. The grounds extend three acres along the Chao Phraya River, (Thailand’s equivalent of the French Rivera) in Bangkok’s royal Dusit district. And you really do receive the royal treatment here with your very own Butler who will cater to your every desire. Accommodation The Art Deco inspired retreat, offers a spacious suites within the main hotel building, private pool villas (accommodates three) or even the century-old Connie’s Cottage which has been transformed form a traditional Thai teak house to a luxurious modern pool villa for two, whilst retaining it’s historical charm.… Continue reading...

Saying Yes and My month away!

June 8, 2018
I left the UK on 2nd May thinking I’d be gone 10 days. One month later and I’ve only just returned. Last month I went to Heathrow and boarded a plane to Thailand. As you can see from my previous posts and Instagrams, I stayed at the out-of-this-world haven of health and tranquility – Chiva Som hotel in an effort to accelerate my recovery from a running injury, having had nearly seven weeks rest from my favourite sport. It’d taken me six weeks just to walk without pain. And I’d missed out on running The London Marathon which was hugely disheartening.… Continue reading...

Recovery advice for Marathon Runners

April 28, 2018
If you follow me on Insta then you’ll know that I’m currently at the luxury international health resort Chiva Som, Thailand. You’ll also be aware that much to my dismay, I was forced to withdraw from last Sunday’s London Marathon due to an injury I sustained nearly two months ago. I travelled here to Chiva Som on Monday to get some expert advice on rehabilitation since after six and a half weeks I was still limping in pain (despite resting, strengthening and physio in London) and I was desperate to see improvement. When life gives you lemons… Much to my relief I am feeling a marked improvement.… Continue reading...

Marathon Recovery help from GelpacksDirect

April 19, 2018
Whilst I was training for the VLM I was super fortunate to get sent some gelpacks (compression wraps) to help my muscles recover and regenerate in between my runs. I want to tell you guys about these compression wraps because together with my physio, foam rolling, stretching and rehab exercises, I’ve used them a lot and they really do help in a number of ways which I’ll explain below. Even if you’re not a runner – you can use them after strength and conditioning training, skiing, hiking – basically any activity that’s challenged your legs! So what is this particular compression wrap and how does it aid recovery? … Continue reading...

Curcumin to aid recovery for marathon runners

April 17, 2018
When I started training for the Virgin London Marathon I wanted everything to be “perfect”. I wanted the perfect running shoes, the perfect sports bra, the perfect training plan and the perfect diet to enable me to run the strongest, fastest marathon I could muster. I put pressure on myself to have everything “perfect”. I mean hell I even stressed about which water-carrier vest would be best! But of course attempting perfection has its pitfalls. I was putting a lot of pressure on myself and having made the decision to run the VLM very last minute, I felt anxious already about not wasting a second to become an uber runner.… Continue reading...

My quest to test the world’s longest zip line: Part I

March 5, 2018
If you’re based in Britain and anything like me then last week’s “beast from the east” had you desperately dreaming of hot sunshine and palm trees. My destination daydream was Ras Al Khaimah in the UAE, which I visited just before Christmas. I’d been invited to be one of the first to test the world’s longest zip line, scheduled to open in mid-December and I couldn’t wait. However, as you will discover when you read the following posts, things didn’t quite go to plan… Ras Al Khaimah is less well-known than its neighbor, Dubai, but the emirate is aiming to attract one million visitors by the end of 2018.… Continue reading...

keep it clean

February 15, 2018
I’m writing this post in Barbados and since I can’t run outside (for safety reasons) I’m spending more time than usual in the gym, clocking those miles on the ‘mill in preparation for my marathon in April! Because of this I’m finding I have a heightened appreciation for “gym etiquette”, which is hugely important not just because it maximises one’s enjoyment in the gym but also because it plays an important role in maintaining one’s health, hygiene and general safety. Seriously folks, this stuff’s important! I recently partnered with Freya, a stylish brand which creates gorgeous sportswear and lingerie in a B-K cup.… Continue reading...

Temporarily Closed for health maintenance

January 24, 2018
We’ve all seen that Instagram caption that spread like wildfire over the festive period. “Temporarily closed for spiritual maintenance”. It’s a goodie. To those who took its message on board and stepped away from social media to enjoy precious moments with family and loved ones, I salute you. I’m sure both you and they benefited from the lack of phone interference. Given how beneficial this little caption was, I want to introduce an equally important one… No one wants to be ill. But fit people especially loathe the lethargy and inevitable lull in training that comes with contracting any illness. I’m a prime example.… Continue reading...
