Sober Summer: Final Word

September 21, 2018
The final word When you make any decision you have to know why. And when you make a decision that breaks from convention or the norm, you have to understand that why inside and out. You have to know what you want to achieve and you have to be excited about getting there. You have to be curious and you have to want something more for yourself other than what you’ve been getting. Expect to scrutinise your personality, your decisions and what you stand for and what you want to stand for. Know whose opinion matters to you and whose doesn’t.… Continue reading...

Sydney Morning Herald Half Marathon

July 26, 2018
From Balmain I went with my bestie to her home in Berry – about two and a half hours from Sydney by car. Berry is like a town from a different era. It is so simple and wonderfully so. We hiked Fitzroy Falls, had wholesome country time, ate, drank super smoothies and were very merry. A week later I was back in the city gearing up for the Half Marathon. I knew my training had been far from optimal no thanks to my injury, but hey – I was here and I was going to give it my best shot. The night before the race I stayed at the QT, just a short walk from the start-line.… Continue reading...

A stress-free afternoon with a cuppa Starbucks Teavana

October 20, 2016
According to most Brits there’s nothing that a good old cuppa can’t conquer. And we may do well to keep this in mind as survey after survey shows us city slickers are more stressed and depressed then ever. We have vast unbinding workloads and deal with daily over-doses of social media and online engagement. The result? We’re constantly connected and rarely in the natural life-enhancing clean air of the countryside alone with just our thoughts. So what to do? We need to switch off FAR more. We need to make time in our week for wholesome device-free down-time. Now that Autumn’s here the evenings are drawing in and daylight hours are becoming even more important to savour (a vitamin D supplement is also essential as most Brits become deficient in the winter months).… Continue reading...

Quarter Life Health Project: The Gang

September 20, 2016
As the sun set on the first night of the Quarter Life Health Project in Benahavis, ten women in their twenties and thirties gathered with Kundalini yoga teacher Aimee Rai in a circle under the stars to share their stories. Aimee lead the way, sharing how her troubled past riddled with alcoholism, addiction, eating disorders, self harming, depression and severe anxiety had actually turned out to be the blessings which lead her to discover Kundalini yoga, the practise which helped her to gain a life full of balance, health, peace and purpose. Everyone had different motivations for attending the retreat. Some issues were severe and some were just small stumbling blocks which were inhibiting progression in certain areas.… Continue reading...

Summer Activewear Wish List

August 24, 2016
“What you think you become, what you feel you attract, what you imagine you create.” For most things in life, when you look the part you’re more likely act the part. That’s good news when it comes to working out as the cooler your kit – the more motivated you’ll feel to pack power to that punch, speed to that sprint, pounds to those weights, balance to that bridge, zen to that meditation, etc. Happily, we’re spoilt for choice with so many bright and beautiful activewear brands around – how we transform into ‘beast mode’ is up to us! I wanted to share some of my current favourites from pinterest (please follow me if you don’t already) to help get you that extra bit motivated too.… Continue reading...

Pre-workout Protein Power Shakes

May 3, 2016
For all those times when I’m  in a rush and want to hit the gym but need some fuel to give me the energy to have a great workout – shakes are my saving grace. They are super simple to make and absolutely delicious, especially with Bioglan’s Skinny Greens Vanilla protein powder which is made with pea protein meaning it’s suitable for any diet plus it’s easy to digest. Apart from being delicious, quick and easy to make, the beauty of shakes is that you don’t have to wait an hour or more to digest them – you can go and workout almost immediately after consumption and the protein also keeps you fuller for longer than if you just had a shake without the protein.… Continue reading...

Optimal Fitness Week at Luxury Fitness and Spa Destination Thirty Eight Degrees North, Ibiza

October 30, 2015
Even though Thirty Eight Degrees North (38DN), a luxury spa and fitness destination situated within the 5 star eco hotel Aguas de Ibiza in Santa Eulalia is just three years old, it’s already created a lot of hype. Guests can “reset their co-ordinates” utilising the spa, gym and the beautiful beach surroundings for outdoor training. I’d read glowing reviews from celebs such as Amanda Byram, who described it as “6 days of intense yet brilliant and enjoyable exercise in a fantastic group environment..Two (much fitter and lighter) thumbs up!!” Kelly Hoppen said “the results were fantastic” and Mel Blatt calls 38DN her “go-to for getting into shape”.… Continue reading...

Luxury RnR at Hotel Du Cap Post VS challenge…

July 14, 2015
As you can imagine, I was pretty pooped after my VS training so when an invitation to go to the otherworldy Hotel Du Cap in Antibes arrived, I couldn’t believe my luck. It was this sight (above) that first made my hair stand on end, catapulting me straight into the French riviera fairy tale. One cannot describe how special this historic hotel is – (it was the setting for F Scott Fitzgerald’s book, Tender is the Night and has played host to A-listers and Hollywood stars throughout time) all painted in pale ivory, hints of gilt and marble, with carpets dressed in corals and exotic plant-patterns (captured brilliantly below by my belle, Tatianna Hambro).… Continue reading...

SpeedFlex Review

April 30, 2015
Something that gets Alan Shearer training to his “maximum every time” must surely be worth a shot, right? Having heard this report of Speedflex from the former England football Captain, I prepared to be put through my paces. I arrived at Speedflex HQ in Bank and immediately felt a little “on edge” since the interior is a tad clinical and reminded me of the apprehensive wait to be called into the doctor’s room. YIKES. Think minimal decorating, utilitarian furnishings and so quiet you could hear a pin drop, or in this case, more aptly a sweat droplet drop.. Yummy.  It’s no boutique flowery fitness scene such as Psycle where gals and guys hang out and chitchat over chia seeds and coconut water pre-class.… Continue reading...
