I’ve been in a bit of a fix since last Friday after my make-up bag and all its expensive contents: Mac liquid eye liners, Chanel eye brow pencil, YSL Touche Éclat and blusher, Lancôme mascara, Laura Mercier bronzing palette, eye liner and lipstick, Chantecaille tinted moisturiser (and I don’t even want to think about anything I may have forgotten) got stolen from my gym in Kensington. KENSINGTON of all places!
After a few days of futile denial I’ve had to (not) like it and lump it and accept that the above are now in the hands and on the now glowing smug face of some horrid THIEF. My only comfort comes from the mantra, ‘what goes around comes around’ so with any luck they’ll get what’s coming to them (hopefully an allergic reaction).
As any girl in the know will indeed know, make-up can come at a hefty price and there lies the rub – is it really worth it? My answer is, yes of course! Make-up makes you feel and look great and the right products are worth their weight in gold, but this doesn’t mean to say go OTT. Prioritise what products are important to your look and skin type/tone and invest your hard earned cash where it will give you the highest return.
Space.NK is my beauty ‘go to’ for its high quality range of products and brand ethos (Founder of Space NK, Nicky Kinnaird, has joined forces with Women for Women International see previous post). The Chantecaille Anti-Smog Moisturiser SPF 15 is great protection from pollution and harmful UV rays, the Laura Mercier Shimmer Block for the cheeks and eyes adds a great glow and the Eyeko Skinny Liquid Eyeliner (a bit of a bargain at £10) glides on smoothly without any mess.
Needless to say, I wil l be saving my pennies in other places due to this expenditure but happily so since I know what a difference good make-up makes to the way you look and feel.
