What I wish I’d known before: My Advice for marathon training

The London Marathon is now only four weeks away. By now, I’d expected to be firing on all cylinders, smashing PB’s and feeling super strong and psyched for my first ever marathon. Instead, I’m now in my third week of not running and still experiencing pain when I walk. Whether or not I’ll be able to run next month is anyone’s guess. Such is life… But it’s not all doom and gloom. Starbucks UK Teavana Launch

We’ve been blessed with beautiful champagne days recently here in the UK and us Londoners have been lucky enough to see the city shimmer in sunlight. When the sun’s shining it’s impossible not to feel an instant spark of energy and positivity. So imagine how elated I felt when last week, standing 155 metres above the ground at Sky Gardens to celebrate Starbucks’ new Teavana iced tea range,  I saw our capital city shimmering in the early morning sunlight. The morning started with a beautiful gentle yoga practise. Winter Glow Retreat at Poundon House

Before Christmas I pledged to put a decent portion of my time into attempting a yogi metamorphosis. So when January came off I trotted to Poundon House for my first ever yoga retreat. Which was taught by the gorgeous and very flexible Saskia Price. In Saskia’s words her teaching style has an “emphasis on breath and creative movement of vinyassa flow, the sequencing structures of Ashtanga, the heart and classical spirit of Dharma Mittra and the philosophy and playfulness of Jivamukti.”  (And in English) that’s yogi speak for a physical, dynamic and strong practice with an emphasis on breathing and some meditation at the end.… Continue reading...
