SKC… What could it be?

October 1, 2014
So, as promised, here’s the post on SKC. It stands for South Kensington Club (or Seriously Kick-ass Club as I think I may come to refer to it as). The exclusive soon-to-launch club is dedicated to health and fitness. It has a state-of-the-art gym, Turkish Hammam (sauna) Russina Banyas, (a steam room heated with firewood) a Watsu pool (a warm, clear water pool with a depth at which someone can, with feet spread and knees bent, settle down into the water as if sitting in a chair and complete a series of exercises), treatment rooms, concierge service AND MORE!! What more?… Continue reading...

Nama Foods: Notting Hill Raw Restaurant

September 27, 2014
I’d been looking forward to lunch at Nama Foods all week. For most of us, when Friday hits we’re in desperate need of some rest, relaxation and regeneration so what better way to kick start it all with lunch at the new raw food haven that is the holy gluten-free-raw-grail of Notting Hill? I met my lovely friend and journalist extraordinaire Harriet Compston (Condé Nast Traveller) at 1.30PM for what we thought would be a one-hour lunch. We ended up leaving at 4PM. Of course we had lots to catch up on and discuss but, unfortunately, that wasn’t the reason for our two and a half hour luncheon.… Continue reading...

London Restaurant Favourite: The Good Life Eatery

August 29, 2014
Unassumingly snuggled in next to Starbucks on Sloane Avenue is the health mecca that is The Good Life Eatery. It’s relatively new in London but that hasn’t stopped it from being one of the most-loved tried, tested, talked about restaurants in town. Warm exposed brickwork, cosy booths and wooden tables make it homely and although the food is healthy it manages to be hearty too. The signature ‘Good Life’ salad is a rainbow plate of marinated kale, roasted sweet potato, lentils, red and black quinoa, toasted walnuts, Goji berries, nutritional yeast, with orange tahini vinaigrette with the option to add ‘extra protein’: salmon, chicken, avocado or prawns.… Continue reading...

Paola’s BodyBarre

August 28, 2014
Pre PBB I’ll admit I wasn’t feeling super psyched about trialling Paola’s bodybarre class. A few months prior I’d attended my first barre class in West London and found it laborious, sterile and so strict it felt like school. So when I reluctantly walked through Paola’s studio doors in Fulham,  I was surprised to find the atmosphere completely different. I was instantly enthused and captivated by the inviting and homely boutique-style feel. Then I spotted some freshly baked protein balls, healthy snacks and assortment of shakes in a help-yourself-set-up at no extra cost and suddenly I’m glad I’ve come. Inside, it’s open-plan with the reception leading straight into the theatrical looking studio with the class initials – PBB – illuminated by big light bulbs on the wall.… Continue reading...

Dancing at Pineapple Studios

October 22, 2013
I’m always on the lookout for fun active sociable things to do in London.  Pineapple Studios is world famous for its prestigious dance standards so I thought what could be better than learning how to move it and shake it with the pros? I booked myself, my boyfriend, sister and her other half into a private lesson with the lovely lanky Alex. As complete beginners we all needed the one-to-one attention. She guided us through the cha cha, jive and waltz explaining some of basic tips about posture, steps (take small ones) etc. The hour whizzed by like the waltz and we all had such a giggle.… Continue reading...
