Soakin up Sydney Life

Post half marathon I gave myself a week to sample Sydney life. It had been non-stop since my arrival and I hadn’t had a chance to actually be in the city and take it in properly. I’d visited once before but years ago so it was time to get reacquainted. I shacked up with another old friend and we had a blast. Of course a trip to Double Bay (scene of my childhood and the rest of the western world’s TV obsession, Home and Away) absolutely had to feature! Sydney Morning Herald Half Marathon

From Balmain I went with my bestie to her home in Berry – about two and a half hours from Sydney by car. Berry is like a town from a different era. It is so simple and wonderfully so. We hiked Fitzroy Falls, had wholesome country time, ate, drank super smoothies and were very merry. A week later I was back in the city gearing up for the Half Marathon. I knew my training had been far from optimal no thanks to my injury, but hey – I was here and I was going to give it my best shot. Sydney: My Balmain guide

Straight after I completed the Hawkes Bay 10K I caught a flight to Sydney still soaring on a high of endorphins. I felt like a live wire. So free and self-sufficient and energetic and excited and like nothing was holding me back. I was in my element. I was pursuing my passions, living in the moment and being completely true to myself in the most beautiful, wild places on the planet. Life felt so good.
